I’d like to call your attention to the collection of photos of Donguz-Orun (4468 m) and Nakra (4451 m). Among the photos there are general views of the summits as well as detailed pictures. Many photos were big taken with noticeable enlargement so they could appear unusual for those who are used to look at the Donguz and Nakra with the naked eye.
I am going to start with a guest picture that has been pleasantly provided by Konstantin Savenkov he had taken it in summer 2004 from the pass Northern Dolomites. This interesting picture presents the view of Nakra, screening the Donguz from the West, and its gently sloping south-eastern and southern ridges.
Nakra with its south-eastern and southern slopes, the Donguz is beside it.

My first series of pictures shows the Donguz and Nakra from the tops of Elbrus and its “classical” slope. From this standard foreshortening two mounts constitute heavily-laden “thickset” common figure, that revive with motion only when clouds and sun help it. In this series I like to emphasize the picture “The Donguz and Nakra on the day of New Year”- it is full of vivid dynamic of forms, light and shadow.

The next series shows the Donguz from the approaches to the glacier and the pass Terskol. Where it isn’t mentioned additionally, the pictures were taken from overnight stops above the steep to the canyon of the river Terskol. (July 2005). It is an excellent scenic viewpoint to the Elbrus and to the mountain row from the Ushba to the Little Donguz. Having passed several kilometers farther to the pass Terskol, you can get unwonted views of Donguz and Nakra beyond a long gently-sloping slope covered with deep snow, on which you usually don’t believe in the middle of summer.

The third series shows the Donguz and Nakra from the approaches to the peak InterCosmos, the photos were taken in July 2006. Ice armour of the Donguz dominates and impresses.

One more small series of pictures gives the Eastern views of the Donguz, the photos were taken in August 2006 from the pass Rodina (“Motherland”) and from the summit Northern Yusengi. It looks like in the quite another mount!

The next three pictures – views from the range something to the North above the settlement Tegenekli (July 2005). If you have a binocular, you can make a nice virtual ascent to the Donguz along its Eastern ridge.

The last photo was taken in the settlement Neitrino in the New Year Eve 2006. Lifelong triple alliance of the Nakra, Donguz and the Big Kogutai – you can wish something.
