The 36-year-old Chinese climber Liu Xinan, best-known most of all after his large number of first ascents in Yangshuo and big-wall climbs on Sigunian Shan (Four girls' peak) and mount Pomiu (that means Celestial) - first climbed by Americans Ted Vail and Allen Steck in 1982.
Liu topped out together with Ma Yihua and Zhang Jian, but fell to his death while rappelling the second pitch on descent.
