Perhaps, it is the most difficult ascent of Russian climbers in 2004 made the team of “Big Wall-Russian Way” project led by Alexander Odintsov.

High-altitude ascent on Kongur peak, 7719 m, Kunlun, China

More than 20 years climbers from different countries tried to summit it. There were 28 unsuccessful expeditions. The most complicated weather conditions of the area, altitude difference more than 4000 meters have made the routes on peak Kongur impassable. In the summer 2004 at once three Russian teams have managed to summit this challenge and unapproachable mountain: team from Saint Petersburg led by Valery Shamalo, Moscow team and Krasnoyarsk team.

World record of cave explorers in “Voronja (Carrion crows)” cave

In July, 2004 Russian cave explorers established the second world record on cave exploration depth. A team of Association of cave-researchers CAVEX and Federations of speleological sports rappelled down 1800 meters drop into the deepest cave in the world Krubera-Voronja (Gagrinsky range, Arabika massif, Western Caucasus, Abkhazia). This expedition (July, 2004) led by Denis Provalov broke the previous world record established by the same team in 2001 when the cave explorers reached up to -1710 meters.

Russian Extreme Project in “BASE climbing” style on Amin-Brakk, 5850m, Karakorum, Pakistan

In June - July, 2004 the REP team of Moscow climbers ascended the western face of Amin Brakk via a variant of “Czech Express train” route and after that Valery Rozov wearing a wing-suit made a parachute B.A.S.E. jump practically right from under the summit.
It is the serious word in the extreme sports world.

The third World B.A.S.E.Championship in Moscow, July 2004

Moscow B.A.S.E. Open Air, 2004 festival of B.A.S.E.-jumpers became one of the most extreme competitions that run in Russia in 2004. Ostankinskaya television tower (365m), the highest construction in Europe, became a starting pitch for daredevils. Amateurs and professionals of extreme parachute jumps from small altitudes, representatives of 19 countries, arrived to Moscow to compete in triathlon, acrobatics and air show performances.
